Huge thanks for this, almost went back to using Itunes just because I couldn’t control spotify through Quicksilver. Scripts work great.

Thank you for such wonderful scripts! Spotify integrates seamlessly with the mac. AppleScript + QuickSilver helps make easy shortcuts. I am an avid Last.fm user. Scrobbling works beautifully with Spotify. The client UI is well thought out. And I have been using Spotify only for 2 days. I will be buying the monthly subscription very soon!

Hi Jack,

Thank you for quick response. I am using BT hub v1.0 with software version 6.2.6 which has got telnet enabled.
I managed to changed IP but it seems like it is not excepted by Fusion_handset.. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

@sergiy – this post is quite old, much of what is discussed here is outdated even on the original home hub. Shortly after this was published BT began to lock down their routers via remote firmware updates.

Hi there,

I am trying to adjust the DHCP and IP settings on my BT hub 1.0. It is causing lots of frustrations, indeed. I am trying to set up VoIP on BT hub 1.0 but my main router set up to 192.168.1.254 already. Unfortunately link to the instruction does not work on this page (http://www.littlehome.co.uk/homehub/homehub3.html) Would you be able to send me this iinstruction?

Thank you so much for this! I recently upgraded to a mechanical keyboard but it lacked the multimedia keys. So using these in conjunction with an application that lets me use function keys to run applescripts, now the lost functionality is restored!

Just what I was looking for, thanks! If you plan on updating these anymore, you might just want to create a github/bitbucket repo with the scripts in it. I followed links in number of blog posts to get to the latest version, having them all point to a repo with the latest would make it easy.

Hello any/everyone, these scripts helped me out in the past and I’ve since learned Spotify has official Applescript support which makes things much easier. Hacks that bring the application in focus are no longer needed and everything can be seamlessly done just with the script running in the background.

Here are my modified scripts: (if Spotify is not running it will not launch it)
- Next track

tell application “System Events”
set MyList to (name of every process)
end tell
if (MyList contains “Spotify”) is true then
tell application “Spotify” to next track
end if

-Pause/Play

tell application “System Events”
set MyList to (name of every process)
end tell
if (MyList contains “Spotify”) is true then
tell application “Spotify” to playpause
end if

-Previous track

tell application “System Events”
set MyList to (name of every process)
end tell
if (MyList contains “Spotify”) is true then
tell application “Spotify” to previous track
end if

people with spaces problems, have you tried setting spotify to be on “All Spaces” in the options? that in theory should make it not switch

@Simon Nice idea of closing the Spotify window, but that does not really solve the problem. The active app still changes to Spotify (although window stays the same), but it should switch back to the program that was used when the script was activated.

Anyone getting the Spaces to work?

Still this is great!
